Dylan Maida

dylanmaidaDylan Maida is a pianist/keyboardist, composer and producer, born and raised in Queens, New York. He grew up classic rock and soul of the 60’s and 70’s and soondiscovered artists such as Prince, Steely Dan, Miles Davis, and J Dilla. While in the tenth grade, he began performing with instrumental rock/r&b trio Once Again at venues such as Public Assembly and Fat Cat. He’s spent the last two years writing and performing with Danny Severance’s band, doing production work for spoken word artist Marcus Wright, performing at the House of Yes with Compton Timberwolf’s band and studying jazz piano at City College. His own project, Dylan Maida and Friends was formed in fall 2012 with a desire to perform some of his most-listened to tracks in iTunes with dedicated improvisers.
This year, he has released a few solo tracks which are available on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. They include original composition “Dances,” and instrumental versions of Kendrick Lamar’s “Sing About Me,” and Erykah Badu’s “Out My Mind, Just in Time.” These homemade recordings have been endorsed (in the form of retweets) by Badu by Odd Future’s Syd the Kid.

Currently, his focus is on Pink Ride, a band comprised of Maida (keyboard), Arden Yonkers (bass) and Dan Keegan (drums). Formed in 2013, the band quickly developed a sound that is at once accessible, progressive and psychedelic, performing Dylan and Arden’s originals alongside covers of tunes by artists such as Radiohead and Marvin Gaye. Look out for upcoming fall 2013 shows…
