Today marks the 1st day of Black History Month in the UK. And in honour of this auspicious celebration of the strong influence black people have played on international history, I’ll be incorporating a few articles on some of the genius minds that changed the livelihoods of Black people all over the world. From Martin Luther King Jr. in America to Mandela in Africa, and not forgetting distinguished men from the tiny Caribbean islands in-between, I’m going to have a lot to say about us Black folk this month…starting first with the history of this celebration.
