I’m extremely excited about this months show. Every month I expect nothing less than God from THEE OPEN MIC because that is exactly what it is. A place where my generations makes everyone feel comfortable. I’m a 24 year old Street Poet, the oldest (in the collective) is 29, and the youngest Street Poet is 20 years old. We’re young enough to move that mountain and we’re old enough to know how to do it right! We don’t only invite our age group, so it’s not only our age group that shows up but please believe your 21 when you decide to come near the bar; but feel free to come and enjoy the show if your not old enough to drink (ID is required for entry)

Every time it’s time for THEE OPEN MIC to happen, God comes to me in a dream and gives me the name of the show. The month GOD said POETIC JUSTICE. God doesn’t know Kendrick Lamar made the song because God doesn’t listen to Drake anymore, Lol. So I knew the inspiration behind the meaning of POETIC JUSTICE would be purposeful. I thanked God, and then hopped in the Shower… (SCROLL DOWN, THERE’S MORE TO SEE, READ, AND LOVE!)

The Ghetto Guitar is a young man from connecticut who is a genius with that Gui-tar as the elders would say. So once again, we have a legendary show that will NOT knock your socks off but instead, it will make you untie your shoes, take off your socks, and be okay with it. Yes! The drinks are free, the smoking section is ALIVE and the DEN CAFE is bringing drinks to a cup near you ;-) Still need convincing? Well I can’t do that.. but I CAN show you footage from the LAST TWO shows so you can CONVINCE yourself! That was smooth, right? I hope so. I try, I was a nerd in high school. Community College gave me my wings.

I thought it would be dope to write a Poem.
I thought it would be even more dope if we all wrote the Poem.

Greetings! I hope all is Powerful with you also. Did you know that the board of education is working steadily; and in some cases have succeeded, in removing music education from their schools curriculum? Yes. I was as shocked to hear the news as you probably are now. So to show how we feel about it, we’ve taken matters into our own hands. We’ve decided to bring song live music to the Teen Open Mic that we host at the community in Brooklyn. We want to show them what we should be showing them in the first place; no need to wait for The Board of Anything. We’ve also decided to spend more time with the kids down at von king community center, so.. it’s not just a once a month thing. Schedules are busy but we’ll find time somewhere to keep a commitment to… some kids we know. (Scroll down to continue reading…)

We’re also going to keep up with this whole THE ILLEST OPEN MIC IN THE WORLD THING; it’s actually incredible for geting your soul up; weight. We are going to keep bringing…more live music again! Yes, we are bringing another band, completely different sound. Last month we heard from Sheldon Ray & The New Era band, and they were….EVERYTHING. See, this open mic…is THEE OPEN MIC and it is going to make you touch Poetry, Rhythmn & Blues, and Hip Hop – so, if you’re sleep. You are just one #$^@&* son of gun.
